Pastry Lesson & Sweets

Our tour group completed tray of belli e brutti “good and uglies”. We purchased Bitter Almonds, a book that has recipes and the story of Maria. Three different kinds of Marsala were available to try at lunch.

Erice

In November, Erice was empty. This was a nice opportunity to walk off sweets we had a lunch. The building that looks like a chess piece is Toretta Pepoli. Castle of Venus (Castello di Venere) a Norman castle built in the seventh century BC. Those that did not want to ride the bus down the windy, narrow roads took the cable car down the mountain to meet the bus to go to Trapani.

Trapani

Stephanie pointed out a local Gelateria that we might want to try. Also, she instructed us not drink the water in Trapani due to old pipes. Garibaldi, in the statue above, is Italy’s most famous and colorful revolutionary. This fountain with the statue of Venus, at the site of the old fish market, was right outside of where we stayed.
