Castello Maniace - surprise addition

Our guide took us here as a surprise and along with the castle sights, there was an exhibition featuring pieces by Italian sustainable artist Davide Dall'Osso->. The art photographed was made from polycarbonate. The Castello Maniace was also used as a filming location for the 2021 movie Cyrano. If you want to find out more including the story of the Rams click on the following Castello Maniace ->.

Puppet Theatre (Teatro Dei Pupi)

Opera dei Pupi -> is recognized by UNESCO as intangible heritage. Performances are done in Sicilian, the regional language of Sicily. Battle scenes were our favorite with the puppets movement matching the accompanying music. Our group had our own puppet show (Orlando alla rupe dell’indovino) with a Q&A afterwards with the performers. Read more about the stories presented at the theatre on the show calendar -> on their website.

After the walking tour, explore more of the area to find the Temple of Apollo nearby the hotel. We noticed the site inspired local art seen in restaurants.

Don’t forget to try the local food & treats

All the walking certainly works up an appetite for sweets Amandorla Marciante -> was just the place we needed.

Sicilia in Tavola -> was a great find! The special board was quickly selling out. Always try the local specials. We were very surprised that buratta goes so good with pumkin sauce.
