Checked our bags at the hotel and had one day to see the museum and walk around town. Since we didn’t have time to go Pompeii we went to this museum. It did not disappoint!

Naples National Archaeological Museum

The Rick Steves audio tour starts off with the staircase with the lion statue. Skipping ahead to one of the most famous statue the 13 feet tall Toro Farnese, sculpted in the 3rd Century. In the 1500s Michelangelo (among others) was hired to restore the statue. The Farnese Hercules is located at the other end of the room from Toro Farnese. The also pictured is a scale model of Pompeii. Don’t forget to look up at the ceilings.
